Long gear ratios increase your top speed, short ratios increase your acceleration. The shorter gear ratios are important where a track has many corners and short sections of straight, because the car can accelerate more easily out of the corners. The longer the straights, and the fewer the corners and short sections of the track, the more important longer gear ratios become. The longer gear ratios enable a car to accelerate to maximum speed by the end of a long straight. You've given very scant information here, but too long ratios aren'tgoing to help you in straights, they'll slow you down. ![]() Originally posted by Person012345:the guy with shorter ratios accelerated down the straights quicker. In any case, assuming that the setting have specific effects (which I'm not 100% sure they do but maybe they do), the guy with shorter ratios accelerated down the straights quicker. This has nothing to do with the complaint you made in the OP and follow up comment. Please explain the logic in this because for me it only seems like a feature that is there for nothing. The guy with the long ratios couldnt follow the other on the straights but could follow in the corners. And the other went with high gear ratios and High top speed, any other changes was the same. 2 equal drivers on my team with exact same stats and morale, 1 with short ratios and low top speed. i just did a test on the Italy track with long straights. ![]() Originally posted by Person012345:This is less a case of "doesn't make sense" and more a case of you assuming that they're more simplistic than they are.
